Long Term Injury Prevention
You, the firefighter, are 1450% more likely to get injured than the general public. That’s crazy! It may not be surprising given the nature of firefighting and working within an IDLH environment. However, what may be surprising is that the leading cause of firefighter injuries on the fireground are dominated by strains/sprains and slips/falls. This is not something you have to accept. Thankfully you can do something about it!
So what can you do about it?
Training is an essential part of preventing injury, so much so that other authors have begun quoting this in their writings. Training has many meanings, one of which is building yourself in a progressive manner towards an overall goal. As a firefighter, you need to be building yourself towards LONG TERM INJURY PREVENTION. You are invited to join me at FDIC where I’ll be teaching how you can train for LONG TERM INJURY PREVENTION April 22nd 1030-1215.
What kind of training will produce LONG TERM INJURY PREVENTION?
There are lots of ways you can train. The question is what is the outcome of that training? You could run, lift weights, yoga just to name a few. You could even use the SHAKE WEIGHT! That’s right! You could use the shake weight to train. However, the outcome of the shake weight will not be LONG TERM INJURY PREVENTION. What the shake weight lacks, is the ability to fit the specific needs you have as a firefighter which you need. There are so many ways you can improve your health they may not be preparing you for exactly what you need in order to have LONG TERM INJURY PREVENTION. It is for that, that I have developed the T.A.C.T.I.C training model to replicate the needs of all firefighters in a way that will create a safer firefighter.
T.A.C.T.I.C Training Model
When you are at a fire, do you just run in? No! You perform your 360, talk with occupants, refer to the dispatch provided information in order to decide your next steps. This means gathering information that will decide your next steps. In order for you to have LONG TERM INJURY PREVENTION you quality information that will decide your future steps.
All of our FD-PT Workshops are the result of this size up and follow our exclusive T.A.C.T.I.C training model to truly fit the needs you have as a firefighter. You can use the T.A.C.T.I.C training model within your fire department also! This will be the topic of my class at FDIC April 22nd 1030-1215 where you’ll learn…
- The trend of firefighter injuries
